Chapter 5 : How do we do this?

The first step is to get in touch, preferably by e-mail or phone. Whether you have all of your site's content ready and just want a quote, or you're just starting out with an idea and would like to have a talk about getting on the web, we're looking forward to hearing from you.

Materials | Text, images and other content should preferably be delivered in digital format through e-mail or on CD-R/floppy disc. We can handle all common windows-based file formats but note that images should be delivered in their native form and not embedded in Word, Powerpoint or Adobe Acrobat documents. If you don't have the material in digital form then we can handle the scanning/capturing provided you mail us the original hardcopy.

Rates | Hourly rates are available upon request. It's also possible to negotiate a fixed price for the entire job up front. This is dependant on the client presenting a detailed description of the work required.

Payment | The specifics of how and when payment should be made can be discussed. If we haven't done business before, we may ask for a deposit or payment plan which asks for a percentage to be paid up front to avoid time-wasters. Should the client wish to terminate the contract, this deposit will be refundable, depending on how much work's been done.

Note that accurate price quotes are dependent on the customer providing a detailed and accurate job description. Usually price is tied to an hourly rate so if you mention features, e.t.c. you want added after a price has been agreed upon, the cost will rise accordingly.
