Photography by dummies

Introduction | This page presents some of my amateur photography. The photos were all taken for my own enjoyment and training and I have no idea if anyone else will find them particularly compelling. Have a look around, though, maybe you'll see something you like. More photos will be added as I see fit.

Photo album | I have a fascination with architecture. I like walking around and looking up at buildings, appreciating the beauty found in geometric lines, shapes and angles. This was a series of photos taken while walking around downtown Bergen [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ]. The neo-Gothic St. John's Church (1894) proved a particularly compelling object to explore through the viewfinder [ 1 ] [ 2 ].

I'm not limited to buildings, I look up at other structures as well [ 1 ] [ 2 ].

One of the many advantages of working with a digital camera is that you can afford to snap away and not worry about wasting film. One instance of my taking advantage of this was when I snapped a series of photos while driving home one rainy winter night. The resulting shots had a gothic/noir feel to them which I enjoyed [ 1 ]. I also took a photo after I parked the car. I had the camera pointing out the side window to the mirror on the driver's side. The frontlights of a car passing in the other direction illuminated the foggy window and made for an interesting picture [ 1 ].

Equipment | I use a Ricoh RDC-6000 digital camera, and a ROWI tripod when necessary. Most photos have been post-processed in Adobe® Photoshop®.
